Toyota Hilux Carries 1000 kg Load

The hardcore pickup truck is one of the most popular and successful products in this segment across the globe

In this latest instance, a Toyota Hilux is spotted carrying over 1000 kg of load without breaking a sweat. Hilux is an immensely popular pickup truck. Unfortunately, it didn’t enjoy enough demand in India for some reason. The Indian market doesn’t really see the value of a pickup truck. Also, spending upwards of Rs 40 lakh on a pickup truck somehow didn’t sit well with regular customers. Sure, off-roading enthusiasts and adventure seekers did opt for it. But the overall sales numbers were nothing too encouraging. For now, let us take a look at the details of this latest case.

Toyota Hilux Carrying Over 1000 kg Cargo

The specifics of this recent event stem from Nangalvasi on YouTube. The visuals showcase the hardcore pickup truck carrying tons of sacks of material. I am not sure what exactly this component is. It could either be construction material or eatables. In any case, the entire cargo bed is filled with these sacks. Still, there is enough space between the wheel arches and tyres of the Hilux. This is a testament to the sturdy suspension setup of the pickup truck. The host of the video also mentions that the vehicle is giving no issues despite this heavy load. Also, he says that Indians love to purchase cars after putting them through such rigorous tests.

The Toyota Hilux is, essentially, the pickup truck version of the Fortuner. It comes with a potent 2.8-litre diesel engine which produces a mammoth 201 hp and 420 Nm (500 Nm with automatic transmission) of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties is either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The main attraction of the Hilux has to be its 4×4 capabilities. At the moment, the prices range from Rs 30.40 lakh to Rs 37.90 lakh, ex-showroom.

Our View

Toyota Hilux has to be one of the most capable off-roaders in the country. In fact, in the last few months, I have been reporting about insane discounts and offers on it. Some dealerships want to get rid of the inventory. Hence, they are offering enticing benefits on the Hilux. In some cases, these offers are over Rs 10 lakh. Hence, if you wanted to get your hands on the Hilux, this might be the right time. Being a Toyota, the reliability is something we can expect. I shall keep an eye out for more such cases in the future.
