Toyota has silently introduced a new G Plus base variant for the diesel derivative of the Innova, available in seven as well as eight seater options.
The Toyota Innova Crysta, India’s largest selling premium MPV, in order to compete with the rising competition, has now been launched with a new entry-level variant exclusively for the diesel derivative. The new variant, called as the G Plus, will now sit below the previous entry-level GX. The G Plus will be available in seven as well as eight seater configurations.
The price for Toyota Innova’s new G Plus variant, in its seven-seater guise, is INR 15.57 lakh. While its prices in the eight-seater variant stand at INR 15.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This effectively reduced the entry-level price for the Innova’s diesel variant by INR 38,000. This new G Plus trim will be available for the fleet as well as private buyers on a made-to-order basis.

Being a base trim, the Toyota Innova G Plus does misses out on afew features. The same will not offer a music system, central armrest for the mideel row, rear defogger, LED headlamps, automatic headlamps levelling to name a few. That said, it will continue to offer features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler with integrated stop-lamp, airbags, rear parking sensors, air con vents for all the rows among others.
The engine specification of the Toyota Innova G Plus remains the same as before. It will be available with the same 2.4-litre unit which is capable of churning out 150 BHP of power along with 343 Nm of peak torque. It will come as standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is not going to offer an automatic gearbox.

The launch of the Innova’s new entry-level variant comes at a point when there have been new launches in the MPV segment in India. These include a second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo. Though both these vehicles are not exactly in the same price range as the Innova, they do serve the same purpose to a great extent i.e. carrying people around.
