TVS has confirmed that it has again partnered up with BMW Motorrad and will launch a new motorcycle, based on the platform of Apache RR310.
TVS and BMW are developing a new motorcycle for the Indian market, set to launch in 2021. While reports suggest that it could be a twin-cylinder motorcycle, it will be based on the platform of new Apache RR310.
Recently, a lot of brands have started showing interest in the mid-capacity segment. It would be highly possible if TVS and BMW motorcycle being a 500-650cc model. The latter will get the bike under its brand name.
There are chances of a mid-capacity sportsbike type model incoming. For that, the RR310’s platform will come in handy and will also keep the costs in check. Moreover, there are hardly any mid-capacity sportsbike in our market.
BMW G310 R is a naked roadster, while the Apache RR310 is a sportsbike. Placing it with the RR310 in terms of pricing, we expect TVS to launch a G310 R-inspired naked bike.
The upcoming bike would share the engine, chassis and other equipment with the RR310. The 313cc liquid-cooled DOHC reverse inclined engine, produces 34 BHP at 9700 RPM and 27.3 Nm at 7700 RPM.
For suspension, it will use the same 41mm gold-anodized USD forks at the front and a rear monoshock. Braking will be taken care of by disc brakes at both the end with dual-ABS as standard. Expect the same feature list on the bike, which includes LED headlamps, LED taillights, a fully digital instrument console, a single-piece handlebar, split seats and much more.
The upcoming TVS-BMW motorcycle could go against upcoming KTM 500cc twin-cylinder motorcycle, Honda CBR650RR and Kawasaki Ninja 650. So, expect the motorcycle to be priced aggressively in Rs 4 Lakhs to 5 Lakhs range.
