TVS has confirmed that it will launch its entire BS-6 two-wheelers lineup by the start of festive season along with an electric model this year itself.
Auto-manufacturers are gearing up for the upcoming BS-6 norms, scheduled to kick in from April 2020. Some have already started launching BS-6 models like Suzuki, while others are still in their testing process.
TVS has confirmed to ET Auto that they will launch its entire BS-6 lineup by the second half of FY 2019-20, that means by September 2019. Also, TVS is going to start its electric two-wheelers revolution, with a new launch in the coming months.
The report says that the BS-6 models are under development and will be ready soon. Most likely, all the two-wheelers in TVS’s stable will pass the BS-6 norms, unlike other manufacturers who have to discontinue their models.

The dealer network will also undergo some revision for the BS-6 compliant vehicles. There are chances that a lot of models in the lineup might get a fuel-injection system, to aid the approval for BS-6 norms.
Most importantly, we are going to have the debut of TVS Electric two-wheelers in this Financial year. It’s always different when a big brand is entering a segment where start-ups are currently ruling the roost.
Company officials have confirmed that an EV is under development and will be launched this financial year itself. At the Auto Expo, TVS had showcased two concepts – Creon scooter and the Zepellin cruiser.

TVS Creon will be positioned as a performance electric scooter and might be priced towards the premium end, above a Lakh. It might find competition from Ather 450 and Okinawa i-Praise electric scooters.
As for the Zepellin, it will be India’s first electric cruiser and one of the earliest motorcycles. If launching, it is also expected to be priced above a Lakh or two. However, TVS has backed an electric-two wheeler startup, Ultraviolette Automotive which is also going to launch a 200cc-equivalent electric motorcycle. Can we connect the dots over here?
