The Volkswagen Polo facelift and Vento facelift feature only minor cosmetic changes but give the cars a much needed freshness in this very competitive segment.

The Volkswagen Polo was earlier spotted with some camouflage and we knew a facelift was to arrive soon. Now, fresh undisguised pictures of the Volkswagen Polo and Vento facelift have surfaced on the internet. These facelifted versions have not been officially launched yet but we sure can give you the details.

The updates are not quite drastic and if you do not have a keen eye, you might just miss it as well. At the front, the grille gets an all black treatment, which though quite subtle but still makes it look sporty. The bumper gets a wider air dam and the fog lamps have been revised to be slimmer and rectangular. This new bumper in fact seems to be heavily inspired from the Polo GTi.

Sadly, there is still no LED DRLs on the Polo and that’s a big miss. Elsewhere, the Volkswagen Polo facelift gets a new blacked out roof with new alloy wheel designs as well. At the rear, there’s a roof mounted black spoiler and a blacked out portion in the bumper which looks kind of like a diffuser. The Polo pictured above is the GT TSi trim and some of the base variants might not get these sporty updates.

We expect some minor changes to the interiors as well. The infotainment screen might be available in a larger size and with new color options for the seats as well. We do not have any spy shots of the interiors but we are not expecting much updates there. Also, with the latest safety norms, it will also see an upgrade with the mandatory safety equipments which include a driver airbag, seat belt reminder for driver and co-driver, rear parking sensors and an overspeed alert for the driver.

The Volkswagen Vento will also receive the same updates as part of the facelift. Both cars will continue with their regular engine options which includes a 1.0L petrol, the 1.2L turbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine. These engines comes mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG. However, Volkswagen is unlikely to continue with its diesel engines ones the BS-VI norms kicks in the country. They will come up with new engines that will meet the norms.

The Volkswagen Polo and the Vento are ageing cars now and VW have been consistently updating these tow cars with minor updates over time to keep them relevant. As the segment grows more competitive with new entrants, this move had to be coming. However, the Polo has been updated to the next-generation in the international markets and that is a far superior car in every aspect. If only Volkwagen would bring the new generation Polo to our shores earlier.
