The 2018 Mercedes Benz S-Class comes with India’s first BS-VI compliant engines. Mercedes promises that these engines can run on BS-IV grade fuel.ย Mercedes’s Pune plant will manufacture the new S-Class.ย This is the only facility out of Europ to do so.
Mercedes Benz today launched the 2018 iteration of the S-Class in India. Mercedes Benz’s Pune plant will manufacture this premium luxury sedan. This makes the Chakkan facility the only one out of Europe to do so. The 2018 Mercedes Benz S-Class is priced at INR 1.33 Crore. The new S-Class comes with India’s first BS-VI grade engines. This makes Mercedes ahead by two-years before the regulations come into effect. Mercedes Benz says that despite having BS-VI engines, the S-Class can run on BS-IV grade fuel.
2018 Mercedes Benz S-Class Price
The new Mercedes S-Class is offersย two variants. These are the S450, which is the petrol and the S350 d, which is the diesel. The petrol derivative costs INR 1.37 crore.ย On the other hand, the diesel derivative costs INR 1.33 crore. Prices are ex-showroom.

2018 Mercedes Benz S-Class Engine Specifications
A V6, twin-turbocharged motor powers the petrol derivative of the 2018 S-Class.ย It offers a power output of 362 BHP along with peak torque of 50 NM. This engine is paired toย a 9-speed automatic gearbox. 0-100 km/h comes in 5.1 seconds with the top speed clocking at 250 km/h. The diesel derivative comes with an inline six-cylinder motor. It puts out 282 BHP along with 600 NM of peak torque. It is the most powerful diesel engine designed by Mercedes Benz. With this, 0-100 km/h comes in just 6 seconds.

As far as the design goes, the new S-Class retains the outgoing model’s major aesthetic attributes. New additions include triple-stripped LED headlamps, new tail-lamps along with minutely restyled bumpers. The wheel design is new as well. Inside the cabin, the 2018 S-Class comes with a rich cabin. The material quality is very plush. There are new leather and wood trim options for the interior inlays. Interestingly, this updates addsย a new fragrance and ambient lighting options.

The New S-Class comes with a number of creature comforts. It offers an elongated 12.3-inch display for infotainment and instrumentation display. The luxury sedan comes with ventilated seats which offer massage function and a four-zone climate control. Apart from the standard safety features, the new S-Class comes with a new radar-based driving assistance system. It promises to reduce the risk of accidents. The system not only ensures the safety of those onboard but also of other road users. Also on offer is the Active Distance Assist which helps in maintaining the distance to a vehicle for up to a speed at 210 km/h. Also on offer is the Active Steering Assist and the Active Braking Assist along with Blind Spot Detection.
