2019 Honda Africa Twin launched in India; bookings commence

Honda Africa Twin has been updated for 2019 and is now available for bookings. Only 50 units of the ADV will be available in this country.

Bookings for the 2019 Honda Africa Twin have commenced across the Honda Wing World Dealerships. The bike has been launched in India for Rs 13.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

Since it enters the country through the CKD route, only 50 units can be booked currently. The bookings are taken on first come first serve basis, across the 22 dealerships in India.

The updated Africa Twin gets a new Metallic Blue paint job, golden handlebars and wheel rims. Other than that, there are no further updates. The prices have been hiked by nearly 27,000.

Honda Africa Twin uses a 999cc parallel-twin cylinder liquid-cooled engine, that is capable of producing 87.7 BHP at 7500 RPM and 93.1 Nm at 6000 RPM of peak torque.

The motor comes mated to a 6-speed 2nd generation dual clutch transmission. It changes the gears automatically aiding in difficult off-roading. You can choose betweem comfortable cruising and Sports mode.

For suspension purposes, the bike uses Inverted telescopic forks at the front and Pro-link suspension at the back, with dial-type preload adjuster for both the ends.

Features onboard include LED headlamps, adjustable seat, LED indicators and tail lamp, a fully digital instrument console, Three riding modes (Tour, Urban, Gravel and User), Automatic gearbox and much more.

Off-roading aids include Traction control, changeable traction level, switchable ABS, Gravel riding mode and a G Switch, which provides half-clutch control for better performance during off-roading.

Demanding a hike of Rs 27,000, Honda Africa Twin goes against the likes of Triumph Tiger 800, Ducati Multistrada 950 and BMW F 850 GS.

Reports say that Honda will launch a thoroughly updated Africa Twin in 2020. It will adapt a distinctive styling and additional electronic aids as well.
