2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 launched; gets BS-6 engine

2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800

The updated Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 has been launched in India, starting at Rs 2.93 Lakhs. It gets some new features and a BS-6 engine onboard.

Just two days after Maruti Suzuki launched the BS-6 version of Baleno, it now launches the updated Alto 800. The entry-level hatchback now gets a BS-6 compliant engine onboard.

The updated hatchback has been priced starting from Rs 2.93 Lakhs. The prices have been increased by Rs 30,000. The LXI variant goes for Rs 3.50 Lakhs and VXI variant goes for Rs 3.71 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

As of now, the CNG variant has not been introduced. It continues with the same 800cc engine, but gets minor cosmetic upgrades and some feature additions as well.

The BS-6 compliant 796cc three-cylinder engine produces 47 BHP and 69 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, without the option of an AMT.

The mileage of Alto 800 now stands at 22.05 kmpl, which was earlier at 24.05 kmpl. The on-road mileage of the updated hatchback will be nearly 18-19 kmpl.

Safety features onboard include Reverse Parking Sensors, ABS, Driver Airbag, Seat Belt Reminder and Speed Alert System as standard across all variants. The higher variant gets a passenger airbag as well.

Interior changes include a new dual-tone dashboard that comes from Alto K10. A new Smart Play Dock infotainment unit is also offered, which allows Bluetooth connection, calling and voice-guided navigation.

On the outside, the updated Alto gets a new front grille, sharper headlamps and a revised bumper styling. The rear portion remains unchanged and there is a fender on both the sides.

2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is available in Uptown Red, Superior White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Mojito Green and Cerulian Blue colour options.

Alto 800 continues to compete with Renault Kwid and Datsun Go. Alto K10 also faces the same competition.
