Hyundai has launched the new 2020 Creta in India. The bookings for it have already crossed the 15,000 mark in just two weeks of time. The deliveries are expected to commence by the end of March or first week of April.

The vast price range of Creta puts it in competition with a lot of SUVs. Seltos remains its prime competitor but indirectly, it also goes against Tata Harrier and MG Hector. Here, we have put it against Hector to let you know if you should pay extra or not.

The price range of Creta starts at Rs 9.99 Lakhs going up to Rs 17.20 Lakhs. The starting price remains the same as the BS4 version. In the case of Hector, it is priced from Rs 12.74 Lakhs up to Rs 17.44 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Here’s a detailed variant wise price list of both.

However, we should also inform you that Hector has not received a BS6 diesel engine yet. So, these prices are set to increase soon. However, the petrol and petrol-hybrid engine are BS6 compliant.

Creta gets a 1.5 Litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 147 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 1.4 Litre turbo petrol engine that produces 147 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, Hector gets a single 1.5 Litre turbo petrol engine. This engine also gets a small electric motor as an option, making it a mild-hybrid. Both the configurations make the same 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque.

Creta gets a much low powered 1.5 Litre four-cylinder diesel engine, that puts out 115 PS and 255 Nm of peak torque. Hector uses an FCA-sourced 2.0 Litre diesel engine that produces 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque.

The mileage figures cannot be properly compared as both the cars have different capacity engines and dimensions are also different. Both the SUVs claim to offer decent mileage figures with their respective engines.
