The spy videos of the 5 door Mahindra Thar are emerging on the internet and it features a sunroof in this latest spotting. Thar has taken the Indian automobile market by storm ever since its launch last year. The amount of off-roading hardware at this price point has made people buy it left and right. In this generation, Mahindra has worked hard to make it an SUV with which people can live on a daily basis as well. The comfort, modern features and practicality it offers, have caused a huge demand for the off-roader. Now, the 5-door version is on its way too.

Talking about the exterior styling, one could expect the bare minimum modifications to the 5-door version compared to the regular 3-door version. Nonetheless, Mahindra will definitely give a few tweaks to the exterior to distinguish the two. The vertically-oriented LED taillamps look similar to the regular Thar. Since Indians love their sunroof, the upcoming Thar will feature it. On the inside, the dashboard and central layout will resemble the regular version as well.

The 5-door Thar will use the same platform as the Scorpio N in order to incorporate more space inside the cabin. Also, it will most likely come with 2 engine options, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. In the current-gen model, the oil burner makes 130 PS/320 Nm of peak figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/320 Nm of max figures. Transmission options for both the powertrains are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with a low-range box. You also get a transfer case and a mechanically locking centre differential. We will have to wait some time to know the exact details.
