Kia remains one of the few carmakers who still offer a diesel engine with the Sonet. Moreover, the buyers can also choose between either a naturally aspirated petrol or a turbo petrol mill. The available engine options include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. These engines produce power and torque figures of 83 PS / 115 Nm, 120 PS / 172 Nm, and 115 PS / 250 Nm, respectively. To accommodate various preferences, an array of transmission choices is offered, comprising a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, iMT, 6AT, and 7-speed DCT automatic. The diesel mill gets a manual transmission for this facelift.

The Korean giant has made some subtle alterations to the aesthetics of the facelift model to set it apart from the pre-facelift version. The most notable change is seen in the modified Tiger Nose grille, featuring glossy black elements. An eye-catching addition is the introduction of 7-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), encompassing the LED headlamps for a striking visual effect. Another novel feature is the inclusion of horizontal LED fog lamps accompanied by a gloss black skid plate and bumper, significantly enhancing the front fascia of the updated Sonet.

The side profile undergoes minimal alterations, but the facelift introduces the option to choose from four different 16-inch alloy wheel designs based on the selected trim, offering an impressive variety for a vehicle in this segment. Prominent wheel arches accommodate these alloy wheels seamlessly. Moving to the rear, the new Sonet showcases connected LED taillamps, complemented by connected taillamps with halogen bulbs in the lower section. Glossy black elements on the rear bumper and skid plate area add a touch of sophistication. The SUV’s appearance is further elevated with the presence of a shark fin antenna and roof rails.
