I am comparing the 2024 Maruti Swift Lxi and Vxi variants to help our readers make an informed decision. Swift has finally been launched in India. The fourth generation model comes with tons of exterior and interior customizations along with a brand new powertrain. Hence, the new Swift will attract more new-age customers. The Lxi and Vxi are starting variants in Swift’s lineup. For now, let us take a look at the distinctions and similarities in these two entry-level trims of the 2024 Maruti Swift.
2024 Maruti Swift Lxi vs Vxi – Price
The 2024 Maruti Swift Lxi is the base variant and has a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh, ex-showroom. That is quite an attractive price since it gets 6 airbags, tons of safety equipment and a new powertrain. On the other hand, the Swift Vxi is priced at Rs 7.30 lakh for the manual and Rs 7.80 lakh for the AGS (AMT) version. Note that the VXi (O) costs Rs 7.57 lakh and Rs 8.07 lakh, ex-showroom for manual and AMT, respectively.

Exterior
The main difference between the Lxi and Vxi variants will be evident in the exterior profile. That is a common theme in the automobile industry. The entry-level model loses on a lot of elements to keep the costs in check. In the case of the Swift, the Lxi trim has halogen-based projector headlamps with LED DRLs integrated inside the cluster, 14-inch steel rims, black door handles and ORVMs and LED taillamps. The Vxi model will get these elements in addition to body-coloured door handles and ORVMs with turn indicators, antenna, chrome door handles on the inside, wheel covers, and more. Hence, there will be an evident difference in the two from the outside.
Interior and Features
Continuing on to the inside, there are some significant differences between the two trims. The first thing you would notice is the lack of a touchscreen infotainment system in the Lxi variant and the absence of steering-mounted controls. However, you will have all four power windows, automatic AC, part-digital driver’s instrument cluster, central locking, auto start-stop, headlamp adjuster and cabin light. On the other hand, the Vxi gets all these amenities. But there are some more functions including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, steering-mounted controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Parcel Tray, dual USB charging, request sensor, engine start/stop button and more.

This is 8 PS and 1 Nm less than what the outgoing K Series engine produced. The new Swift will offer the buyers an option between a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. However, the base Lxi version comes with a sole 5-speed manual transmission. The highlight of the new Swift is its 25.75 kmpl of mileage in the AMT version and 24.8 kmpl in the manual trim.

Our View
Those who just want the benefits of the new engine and its incredible mileage, and are not too bothered about the convenience features can opt for the base trim. It will ensure that they get to witness the performance of the Swift at the most affordable price range. However, those who want some amenities from their Swift can opt for either the Vxi or VXi (O) trim. It is a perfect blend of performance, affordability and convenience. Hence, the owners will be able to utilize the benefits associated with the Swift in its modern avatar. In essence, both these have their specific use cases.
