  • It is incredible to see how industrial machinery operates on our regular highways.
  • This instance of a truck transporting a 250 feet long windmill blade is a prime example of that.
  • The challenges associated with it are distinctly mentioned in the video.

In this latest video, a 250 feet long truck is seen transporting a windmill blade through a highway. Instances like these are not very common. That is what makes this episode so interesting and intriguing for the onlookers. You might have seen the large windmills installed in fields in many parts of the country. But you don’t generally comprehend just how colossal they are. It’s because you are almost always too far away from the setup. It is only when you see them up close on the road that you understand the mammoth size of those things.

The video has been uploaded by Transport Live on YouTube. The reporter captures a long-haul truck parked on the side of the highway. Curious about the type of material being transported, he approaches the driver to get to know the setup better. The driver reveals that the truck is around 78 m or 250 feet long. Being so massive, two drivers are needed to move the truck. One driver sits in the traditional position inside the cabin of the truck, while the other operator sits at the rear end of the trailer.

The job of the latter is to steer the rear axles of the truck so that the truck could turn relatively comfortably. He has a remote control in his hand with which he controls the rear 3 axles. In addition to that, there is an escort vehicle in the form of a Maruti Eeco that travels with the truck. It is necessary to guide the truck and tackle the obstacles in the journey. It takes around 7 days for the truck to travel around 500 km, which is understandable considering its dimensions.

The reporter also inquired about the salaries that the driver and the operator draw. The main driver is paid Rs 30,000, while the operator is paid around Rs 17,000. These might be considered great salaries but one must understand the challenges associated with it. It is a classic case of ‘high-risk high-reward’. We would love to hear your thoughts about this as well.
