Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace replaces the standard Tiguan in India. Its coming as a CBU and will be available in limited numbers at expensive price point.

Volkswagen has launched the Tiguan AllSpace in India for a price of Rs 33.12 lakh. It comes to India as a CBU (completely built unit) and is offered in only a single fully-loaded trim. The AllSpace now replaces the standard Tiguan in India and it is essentially the long wheelbase version of the standard Tiguan that comes with three rows of seating. Volkswagen has also commenced bookings for the Tiguan AllSpace in India.

In terms of the styling, the AllSpace looks pretty much similar to the standard Tiguan. The face gets looks identical with a slatted chrome grille and revised LED headlamps. It is when you view it in profile, that the Allspaceโ€™s longer length and the longer rear overhang becomes evident. At the rear, it comes with split-LED tail lamps and dual exhaust outlets.

In terms of dimensions, the Tiguan AllSpace measures 4701mm in length, 1839mm in width, 1674mm in height and has a 2787mm long wheelbase. While the length and wheelbase has obviously gone up, the car remains the same in width but its height has also up by 2mm. With the third row of seats in position, the boot space is reduced to 230 liters as opposed to 615 liters in the standard Tiguan. However, fold the seats down and you have a massive 700 liters of boot space.

The Tiguan AllSpace will also be using a different engine from the Tiguan. The Tiguan was powered by a 2.0L, four cylinder diesel engine with 143 bhp. Now, for 2020, Volkswagen has completely ditched diesel engines and the Tiguan AllSpace will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol that produces 190 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a paddleshift operated 7-speed DSG gearbox as standard and power will be sent to all four wheels via VWโ€™s 4Motion system.ย

Standard safety kit will include seven airbags, ABS, ESP, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a rear parking camera.

The Tiguan comes to India as a CBU under the 2500-a-year import car rule without the need for homologation. As theyโ€™re all part of the VW Group โ€“ a single company โ€“ Skoda, Volkswagen and Audi have to share this 2,500-unit allocation, and as a result, the Tiguan Allspace will be available in limited numbers.
