Royal Enfield MJR Roach

Known as the MJR Roach, this one-off custom bike has been built by Royal Enfield’s Custom Tech Center in the UK and is based on a Himalayan. It comes with a turbocharged engine with as much as 50 bhp.

Many of you may not be knowing this, but Royal Enfield has a custom bike development arm in the UK Tech Center, and they have been building several one-off project motorcycles over the years. They have showcased a number of drool-worthy custom-made Royal Enfields motorcycles based on the standard models – including some masterpieces based on the Interceptor 650 – and the latest one to come out of the Tech Center is the Royal Enfield MJR Roach. This is a stretched out turbo-charged motorcycle based on the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Does not motorcycle not look like its straight out of a Mad Max movie? In fact, Royal Enfield describes this motorcycle as being built out of spare parts and materials lying around in the Royal Enfield design studio. The result, as Royal Enfield describes it, is “a finessed-out Frankenstein monster built to survive the apocalypse”. If you look at other models that have come out of the tech center, they too look equally bizarre but still pique your interest.

This Royal Enfield MJR Roach is powered by the same 411, single cylinder engine from the Himalayan, but here the engine now gets aGarrett GT 125 turbocharger. This really shoots up the numbers from 24bhp of the stock engine to 50bhp in this iteration. That’s more powerful than even the 650 twins. This motorcycle also gets an extended single-sided swingarm and wheel assembly from Harris Performance which gives it that stretched out look.

You’d also notice that the front fork support structure is no more Himalayan, but it actually comes from the Continental GT. There’s even a buckle from an old parachute on the fuel tank. Although the frame is of a standard Himalayan, the rear portion of the motorcycle has completely been eliminated. The MJR Roach has been shod with Continental TKC80 knobby tyres and it gets quad-projector headlights, a Renthal Fatbar and custom switchgear.

Royal Enfield says that the MJR Roach has been inspired by video games and features a manga-style future military paint job. This is of course a one-off custom job and this motorcycle will never make it into production. However, its really great to see the enthusiasm with which the Royal Enfield custom build team at the UK Tech Centre have been rolling out such custom-builds one after the other, at regular intervals. We cant wait to see what comes out next.
