Audi-Q2-India

Audi launched the Q2 SUV in India for a starting price of Rs 34.99 lakh, and going all the way up to Rs 48.89 lakh. The Audi Q2 is actually quite pricy and that’s because it comes to India via the CBU route.

After a slew of high profile launches, Audi has finally launched the new Q2 SUV in India for a starting price of Rs 34.99 lakh, and going all the way up to Rs 48.89 lakh. The Q2 sits below the Q3 is Audi’s range of SUVs and although it is being positioned as the most affordable Audi in India, its actually quite pricy. That’s because it comes to India via the CBU route. Although the new Q3 has not been launched in India yet, the Q2 is even more expensive than the last-gen Q3 in India and that’s a big bummer. Here’s a look at the detailed price list of the Audi Q2 in India.

StandardRs 34.99 lakh
PremiumRs 40.89 lakh
Premium Plus 1Rs 44.64 lakh
Premium Plus 2Rs 45.14 lakh

The new Q2 is available in five trims in India – Standard, Premium, Premium 1, Premium 2 and Technology. It’s also worth pointing out that the Q2 is even smaller than the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos but its Audi logo that makes a case for itself. The car that has come to India is however not the facelifted Q2 that was unveiled for Europe very recently. Instead, we get the pre-facelift version and that’s another small downer.

Obviously, the Audi Q2 is targeted at a much younger audience, particularly those who are looking to buy their first luxury car in India. It will be readily identifiable by its smaller footprint than even the Audi Q3. But it sure has the Audi DNA in terms of design. The face gets a large single-frame grille flanked by LED headlamps on either side. Thereโ€™s also generous body cladding all around but the tail lamps are squarish, quite unique for an Audi. The Q2 however does boast of a very funky color palette and we hope all of it makes it to India.

On the inside, the Audi Q2 has interiors similar to the previous-gen Audi A3 sedan and honestly, we are not complaining. Thankfully, the infotainment system is controlled via a swivel wheel on the center console and Audi hasnโ€™t put their dual-infotainment screen layout here in the Q2.ย You also get physical buttons and dials for the climate controls. Some of the highlight features would include Audiโ€™s MMI infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, cruise control, automatic LED headlamps,ย a Bang and Olufsen sound system, and connected car technology.ย It also gets Audiโ€™s virtual cockpit system. What’s shocking though is the omission of powered front seats.

The Audi Q2 is powered by a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine in India, the same that powers the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. The engine produces 190hp and 320Nm of torque and it will come mated to 7-speed dual clutch transmission along with Audiโ€™s quattro all wheel drive system. The Q2 is however much lighter than the Tiguan AllSpace and performance is actually quite brisk. Audi claims a 0-100 kph time of just 6.5 seconds and top speed is rated at 228 kmph. ย

The Q2 does not have a direct rival in India as it sits below the Mercedes Benz GLA and the BMW X1.ย However, it is as expensive, or even more (for the top-spec trims) than the larger X1 and the GLA. To give you a perspective, prices for the BMW X1 range from Rs 35.90 lakh to Rs 42.90ย lakh while the upcoming Mercedes GLA is expected to be priced around Rs 38 lakh to Rs 45 lakh. Even the larger Volvo XC40 priced at Rs 39.99 lakh while the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace is priced at Rs 33.25 lakh. With such a high price tag, the Q2 might struggle to fins decent traction in the Indian market, considering cars from a segment above are actually more affordable.
