Australians Review Mahindra Thar

The host finds himself at the Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT) in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu. He mentions that this has to be one of the most brutal testing locations he has ever been to. The obstacles and terrains are genuinely treacherous which test the real capabilities of the SUVs. On this occasion, he gets the opportunity to take the Thar around this track. What adds to the difficulty level is the teeming rain. That makes the surface wet and slippery. Still, the host is impressed by the ease with which the Thar handles these hurdles. There was not even a single point in this journey where the Thar struggled despite the undulations in the track.

Jeep Wrangler Lookalike

The reviewer couldn’t help but notice the similarities with the Jeep Wrangler. However, he got to know that a few decades ago, Mahindra had the license to sell the Jeep in India. That is where the similarities commenced. As a result, the exterior design resembles the Jeep Wrangler a lot. This includes the round headlamps, grille with vertical slats, rugged bumper, upright bonnet, flaring wheel arches, boxy silhouette, upright windshield, angular LED taillamps and more. He also mentions that the resemblance continues on the inside as well. This is clear from the dashboard layout, utilitarian setup and strong materials which are built to take on massive abuse. However, he is disappointed that the Thar won’t make it to Australia in this guise. Perhaps, Australian customers can get the taste of Thar in its electric avatar in times to come.
