The second-generation 2 Series promises to be modern and stylish
The new 2025 BMW 2 Series has made its India debut and the launch is planned for July 17, 2025. It takes forward the entry-level segment with plenty of new-age amenities. Note that the compact sedan will be manufactured locally at the BMW Group Plant Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The pre-bookings are already underway. With this, the German car marque aims to cater to new luxury car buyers who might want to begin their journey of owning opulent automobiles. Let us check out the details of the premium sedan.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
I recently got the opportunity to experience the new 2 Series as part of the media drive. The design of the new 2 Series is certainly refined but unmistakably BMW. The front section contains almost a hexagonal Kidney grille with chrome frame, a sharky nose, creases on the bonnet, a sporty bumper and sleek LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. On the sides, there are elegant 18-inch M Series alloy wheels, M badging all across the body and black side pillars. The tail end looks sharp and attractive with those modern LED taillamps and sporty bumper.
On the inside, you wouldn’t feel like this is the entry-level BMW. There are premium materials on the dashboard, door panels, upholstery, steering wheel and centre console. The floating BMW Widescreen Curved display, the latest BMW Operating System 9, and digital driver’s instrument panel introduce modernity. Also, there is a large panoramic sunroof to ensure that the occupants feel that sense of air inside the cabin. Since this will primarily be a driver’s car, the rear seats don’t offer extensive space to fit 3 people. Having said that, there is no shortage of legroom. Overall, it is a modern, practical and feature-laden space.
Specs and Driving Impressions
Under its hood, there is a new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill which generates a decent 156 hp and 230 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This engine pairs with a sporty 7-speed DCT automatic to offer a healthy performance. There are Boost and Sport modes to drive it enthusiastically. Interestingly, the ARAI-claimed mileage is a cool 16 km/l. The ride quality and handling are great, which makes it a perfect driver’s car for new buyers. The prices will be out soon.
