Tesla Model Y Spotted in India

The EV giant is planning to commence its India operations after a discussion of a couple of years

The Tesla Model Y was seen testing on the Indian roads without any camouflage. This is quite surprising since the news about Tesla starting its India operations is massive. It would ideally want to keep the buzz around its products a secret to keep the customers engaged. In any case, Tesla’s Indian innings will mark a huge moment not just for the Indian automobile market, but also for the US EV giant, whose competition has been rising globally. For now, let us take a look at the specifics of this case here.

Tesla Model Y Spotted Testing in India

The specifics of this case stem from evoindia on Instagram. The visuals capture the new Tesla Model Y plying on the Indian roads without any camouflage. At the front, we see a sleek LED strip, which runs the width of the EV. In fact, it emerges into the LED DRLs on either side. Apart from that, it continues to carry the minimalistic appearance with a sealed-off front section. On the edge of the bumper, there are black elements, probably fog lamps. Finally, the black area under the front bumper rounds off the front fascia.

On the sides, we witness the flush-fitting door handles along with black window frames. I particularly like the sloping roofline towards the rear, completing the coupe silhouette. Also, the wheel arches are quite prominent. There is also a dual-tone effect with a black roof, which could even be a glass unit. Finally, at the rear, we see connected LED taillamps with sharp lights, with a boot-lid-integrated spoiler and a high-mounted stop lamp. Just like the front, the rear bumper also has sporty black elements.

Interior and Specs

While the specific details of the India-bound model are not out yet, we can iterate some of the highlights of the international model. This includes things like a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit at the front and an 8-inch touchscreen display for the rear. You can choose 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels. There will most likely be options to choose between a single-motor RWD or a dual-motor AWD version with a 75 kWh battery pack. In the top variant, it could make 379 hp and offer a range of 526 km, while with the RWD setup, the range figure is 574 km. More details will emerge in the coming days as the first showroom is planned for Mumbai.
