Earlier Ducati had entered the Indian market through a private distributor who brought and sold motorcycles through dealerships across the country. But deliveries of the motorcycles to customers had always been an issue and so was the dodgy dealership network hence, the Italian bike maker decided to withdraw from the Indian market. Now, with the help of parent company Audi, Ducati has decided to re-enter the market much to the relief of the existing owners and prospective customers.

Specification

Spearheading the company’s re-entry into the Indian market is the Ducati Scrambler which was unveiled at INTERMOT 2014. The simplistic and bare design of the bike is what sets it apart from other bikes in Ducati’s portfolio with the retro styling covering a very modern bike underneath. Overall, the Ducati Scrambler gets a very butch look with stubby mudguards and tailpipe, round headlamps with LED guidelights, LED tail lamps, rear seat overhang and general blacked out look for the mechanical components, wheels, etc. Powering the Ducati Scrambler is the 803 cc L-Twinย Testastretta engine derived from the Monster 795 detuned to give 75 PS power and 67.5 Nm peak torque. The bike gets ABS as standard and Brembo discs for the front and rear brakes.

The motorcycleย was launched internationally in January 2015 available in four versions- Icon, Urban Enduro, Full Throttle and Classic, each version getting it’s own unique styling details and logo. In India, the Ducati Scramblerย rangeย competes with the Triumph Bonneville, Kawasaki Z800 and Triumph Speed Triple.
