The Japanese company Suzuki which has a huge base of operations in India revealed pictures of the new Alto for designed for Japan. This new Suzuki Alto will replace its predecessor that was first revealed in Tokyo Motor Show in 2009. The new Alto gets a retro-looking grille and bumper.

The design of the car is quite new-age with sharply cut headlights which makes the car sportier. The car also has a fun retro grille and bumper and an interesting upward crimp for the rear window. As the released pictures show, there possibly will be more than one version of the new Alto.

The dual-tone version with black bumpers, wing mirror covers and side cladding is also seen along with a trendier looking model with a “hood scoop, fog lights and position lights.”

The new Alto, is said to be a ‘kei car’ which could be run by a similar or an revised version of the three-cylinder 0.66-liter gasoline engine found on the older Alto. The earlier engine was one with 54 PS at 6,500 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. This engine should be mated to a CVT transmission which is a lot more efficient than the earlier 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.

Rumour has it that the new car will have a turbocharger version and will be significantly light weight. This new Alto in Japan should have a good fuel efficiency of 20 km/l. More exciting news about the new Japan Alto will be released soon.
