If there is one Royal Enfield bike that most people know about, it is the Bullet Electra. Look at the second-hand motorcycle market and just how many Electra bikes change hands. Royal Enfield has renamed the Bullet Electra as the Bullet ES in its lineup. We think it was perhaps a move to keep the bike feeling fresh until an all-new model replaces it. What will the all-new Bullet Electra be like? Will it be a bike worth your money? Let’s take a look at the new 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra launch date, price and other details and try to find answers to those questions.

New 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra Launch Date

Launch Date March 2018

New 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra Price In India

Price โ‚น 1.40 lakh

GST may have affected Royal Enfield quite a bit, but some of its bikes have been affected positively. The new Royal Enfield Bullet Electra is likely to be one such bike. With its 346cc engine, the Bullet Electra will not be put in the 28 per cent GST slab, helping keep its cost down. We are expecting the bike to carry a price tag in the vicinity of Rs 1.40 lakh upon launch.

New 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra Specifications

Engine Fuel-injected, single cylinder, 346cc
Power 22BHP
Torque 30Nm
Transmission 5-speed

Expect to see a thoroughly modern Bullet Electra this time around. The new Royal Enfield Bullet Electra will likely have a fuel-injected, single cylinder 346cc engine which is air/oil-cooled and makes 22BHP power and 30Nm torque. This engine will likely be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Fuel injection technology will help the 346cc thumper single to meet BS 4 emissions norms with ease. However, Royal Enfield may go for a 6-speed gearbox for the new bike to make it more touring-friendly. This will likely help it in the mileage department too.

New 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra Mileage

City Mileage 30 KMPL
Highway Mileage 35 KMPL

The new Royal Enfield Bullet Electra will likely have a mileage of 30 KMPL in city riding conditions. Expect this figure to go up to 35 KMPL once the bike is on the highway. However, a few caveats here. First, if Royal Enfield goes for a 6-speed gearbox, the mileage figures of the new Bullet Electra will likely increase. Second, the bike’s mileage will also depend on how Royal Enfield calibrates its fuel-injection system.

New 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra Dimensions

Length (mm) 1,850
Width (mm) 810
Height (mm) 1,100
Wheelbase (mm) 1,350

In terms of dimensions, the new Royal Enfield Bullet Electra will likely have a long wheelbase of 1,350mm. Expect the bike to be 1,850mm long to accommodate the big 19-inch and 18-inch wheels. Expect the bike to be 810mm wide as they will likely be wide handlebars. A maximum height of 1,100mm of the new Royal Enfield Bullet Electra is likely.

New 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra Other Specifications

Suspension

Suspension (front) 35mm telescopic fork
Suspension (rear) Twin shocks, preload adjustable

Expect the new Royal Enfield Bullet Electra to sport components from the company’s parts bin. This means a 35mm telescopic fork up front is likely as are the twin shocks at the back. Royal Enfield may opt for Continental GT’s 41mm telescopic fork for this bike too.ย The rear shocks will likely be pre-load adjustable. Here, Royal Enfield may give the twin shocks additional capability of rebound adjustability.

Brakes

Brakes (front) 280mm disc
Brakes (rear) 200mm disc

The new Bullet Electra is likely to sport disc brakes at both ends. After all, brakes are not something Royal Enfield bikes are popular for. Also, this will help the bikemaker to equip the bike with ABS or a form of Honda’s Combi-Braking System. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for either prospect.

New 2018 Royal Enfield Bullet Electra Features

  • Auto Headlamp On (AHO)
  • Fuel-injected engine
  • Adjustable rear suspension
  • Spoke Wheels
  • Twin-pod instrument cluster
  • Disc brakes at both ends
  • Tubeless tyres

Looking at the feature list above, you may think the new Royal Enfield Bullet Electra will likely be the company’s flagship product. However, it can serve as a test bed for the company to offer some of these features on its other bikes too. One thing that bugs most Royal Enfield buyers is the tyres, which are not of tubeless variety. Royal Enfield will likely offer tubeless tyres on the new Bullet Electra while retaining the spoke wheels. The all-new Bullet Electra is likely to draw inspiration from Thunderbird’s headlamp. So, it is likely the bike will have a projector/halogen headlamp combination.
