The next-generation Hyundai Grand i10 will be based on the modified version of the existing platform and is likely to launch in India by October this year.

Hyundai is currently working on the second generation iteration of the Grand i10 compact hatchback. The South Korean automaker has already commenced testing this vehicle in India as well as abroad. Going by the images of the test mule seen in the recent spy shots, it seems that the vehicle in use is a full-production spec version. This hints that the project for its development has reached its final stages. Which means that we can expect Hyundai to launch this vehicle in India this year itself.

From what we know so far, the next-generation Hyundai Grand i10 will be based on the same underpinnings as that of the current model. However, it will have bigger dimensions and a stronger build. The following will be done in order to increase the onboard space as well as to make the car comply with the approaching crash test regulations.

Though the existing iteration of the Grand i10 is already quite a feature rich vehicle, the new version is likely to feature even more. For instance, it can come with LED projector headlamps, a larger touchscreen, automatic headlamps and maybe even a sunroof. The list of safety features is expected to increase as well.

In terms of its engine specifications, the new Hyundai Grand i10 is likely to retain the same petrol and diesel units. However, in the wake of this car launching close to the BS-VI emission deadline, these engines will comply with BS-VI emission regulations. Since the Grand i10 essentially falls in the budget segment, and since the cost of upgradation of a diesel engine to meet BS-VI emission regulations is quite high, there are chances that Hyundai might not launch this generation update with an oil-burner.

Transmission options will remain the same as far as the manual option is concerned. The 4-speed torque converter unit will be replaced with a 5-speed AMT unit. This is going to be the same unit which made its debut on the 2018 Hyundai Santro.

Prices of the new Hyundai Grand i10 are likely to increase. These will be primarily because of the BS-VI engines in addition to the fact that the vehicle will be a full generation update.
