Through industry sources, we got to know that Suzuki Gixxer and other motorcycles are getting an update. Could it be the BS-6 models launching? We suspect that.

If such is the case, Suzuki might be clearing the existing inventory to make way for the BS-6 models. It is purely speculation, because the emission norms will kick in post April 2020.

If not, we expect the growing competition to have a hand in Gixxer’s declining sales. It competes with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ V3 and Honda CB Hornet 160R. In this segment, Apache bags the most sales for December 2018.

Suzuki Gixxer gets a 155cc air-cooled SOHC engine that puts out 14.8 BHP and 14 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.

For suspension, it uses 41mm telescopic forks at the front and 7-step adjustable rear mono shock.

Meanwhile, we expect Suzuki Gixxer 250 to debut the Indian market. The launch is expected in 2019, probably in Q2.
