Unofficial bookings for Yamaha MT-15 have begun at select dealerships. The upcoming naked performance bike is expected to launch soon, most likely in 1-2 months.

Yamaha just launched the FZ V3 ABS and updated Fazer 25 and FZ25 with ABS as well. Now, it is gearing up for the launch of Yamaha MT-15, which is expected to launch very soon.

Meanwhile, unofficial bookings for the bike have begun. Dealers have unofficially started accepting booking amounts ranging between Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000. The booking amount is fully refundable.

The road-testing of Yamaha MT-15 has already begun and it has been spotted many times near Noida. Earlier, we speculated that it would launch alongside Yamaha FZ V3 on 21st January.

However, the India-spec MT-15 will be different from the International-spec. For starters, the Indian version will miss out on gold anodized USD Forks, fuel extensions and the global-spec digital cluster.

Instead, it borrows many parts from Yamaha R15 V3. MT-15 uses the same digital cluster and telescopic forks. It is basically a naked version of R15 V3.

Yamaha MT-15 will get the 155cc liquid-cooled VVA engine, from R15 V3. The engine produces 19 BHP at 10,000 RPM and 15 Nm of torque at 8,500 RPM. The bike will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

As said earlier, it will use telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable rear mono-shock. For safety, it will get front and rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS.

Yamaha MT-15 gets full LED headlight, the same unit from the international-spec model. The thin multi-spoke alloy wheels are again borrowed from R15 V3.

We expect the prices of this bike to range between Rs 1.3 Lakhs to Rs 1.4 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It will be priced near to Yamaha R15 V3.

MT-15 will compete with the likes of KTM Duke 125, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4v.
