Maruti Ignis Facelift will be reportedly launched on 20th February. The hatchback will get some safety upgrades and minor cosmetic changes.

Fresh reports suggest that Maruti Ignis is all set to receive a minor facelift with the addition of safety features and a minor styling refreshment. The facelift will be launched on 20th February.

We expect the updated Ignis to sport a revised bumper and front grille styling. The LED projector headlamps and DRLs might debut on the lower-grade variants like Zeta too. Some exterior styling bits might be changed.

In the interior, it might get a new upholstery design. The colour theme of the interior will most likely remain unaltered. Maruti Ignis is already one of the funkiest looking cars from the brand.

Feature upgrades onboard will include reverse parking sensors, high-speed alert and front seat belt reminder as standard fitments across all the variants. Soon, all the variants will be updated with these safety features beforer April 2019.

The new SmartPlay infotainment studio will also come in the the Maruti Ignis facelift. The new infotaintment first came in the new WagonR, followed by Maruti Baleno facelift.

Interestingly, the production of Ignis was temporarily discontinued last month. The step was taken to clear the existing stock and make way for the updated units. As a result, many dealerships were offering high discounts on the hatchback.

The updated Maruti Ignis will continue with same 1.2 Litre K12B petrol engine, that is capable of delivering 83 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with an option of 5-speed AMT.

Its diesel version was discontinued last year due to poor sales. It was equipped with the age-old 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine that makes way in all of the Maruti Suzuki diesel variants.

With this mild update, we expect a price hike of around Rs 5,000 across the variants. Currently, it is priced starting from Rs 4.65 Lakhs to Rs 7.05 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices).

Maruti Ignis goes against the likes Mahindra KUV 100 in terms of pricing. It falls in between Swift and Baleno, which results in the low sales performance of the hatchback.
