Maruti Alto 800 facelift vs competition spec comparison

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 just received a facelift couple of days ago and it is the second car from Maruti lot to get BS-VI compliance engine. The entry-level hatchback gets changes like a new grille, new bumpers and side fenders. The hatchback also receives safety features like ABS with EBD and driver-side front airbag.

As the facelifted Alto gets a new engine under the hood, can it make pace with its rivals and give a tough competition? The car also gets hiked by at least Rs 23000-25000. Maruti Alto 800 facelift vs rivals Engine Specification

Since Alto800 is available with a 796cc engine so we will be comparing it with Renault Kwid 799cc and Datsun Redi-GO 799cc engine. The power output of the Alto 800 is 48bhp which is quite less than its competitors but given the torque amount which is 69Nm, the cars simply fair with them on the ground. All the cars are mated to 5-speed manual transmission.

All the cars are mated to 5-speed manual transmission. However, both Kwid and Redi-GO have the option of a bigger 1.0L engine which the Alto 800 lacks. The cars also get automated-manual transmission (AMT) in their higher end 1.0L.

Renault Kwid gets far better mileage of about 25.17Kmpl according to ARAI followed by Datsun Redi-GO and then Maruti Alto 800. The only car which comes with a BS-VI compliance engine is the Maruti Alto800.

Dimensions

Maruti Alto800 comes second from the top in terms of wheelbase which is 2360mm. Renault Kwid makes the most cabin space since the wheelbase is largest in its segment, followed by Maruti Alto 800 and then Datsun Redi-GO.

Prices

2019 Maruti Alto 800 is expensive than its competition by about Rs 30,000. However, it is the BS-VI compliance engine that the entry-level hatchback is getting which its competitors lack and the added safety features.

It is good to see that Maruti initiated a step to roll out an entry-level hatchback with BS-VI compliance engine which will reduce the NVH levels as well as the emissions.
