Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled

The made-in-India Kawasaki Ninja 300 is riding strong, as it has crossed 1300 units-mark since the launch in July 2018. The bike goes for Rs 2.98 Lakhs.

Kawasaki Ninja series has been in India for a long time now. Earlier, there was the 250cc Ninja, which made way for the 300cc bike. Priced at Rs 3.6 Lakhs (ex-showroom), earlier, it was an expensive Japanese motorcycle.

The growing competition by BMW G 310 R and KTM RC 390 made Kawasaki cutting the prices of Ninja 300 by a steep margin. Importantly, the new Kawasaki Ninja 300 is made-in-India and now priced at Rs 2.98 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

The Ninja 300 ABS was launched in July and its deliveries began in August 2018. Since then, Kawasaki has sold 1300 units of the bike. Based on the monthly sales reports, almost 90 units of the bike are sold.

Currently, it is the most affordable fully faired sportsbike that comes with a twin-cylinder engine. The baby Ninja uses a 296cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin cylinder engine, that delivers 39 BHP and 27 Nm of torque.

You might think that the power figures are comparatively lesser for a twin-motor, but the engine is very refined and capable of touching triple digits in literally no time. Check out our road test review of the bike above.

Suspension is taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and a 5-way adjustable pre-load monoshock at the back. Braking is handled by a 290mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the back with dual-channel ABS.

The engine and chassis of the Ninja 300 is still bought in India through the CKD route, from Thailand. The lights, tires and switches are locally manufactured. That’s why you are stuck with the MRF Zapper Tires.

Reports suggest that Kawasaki might soon start localizing the Z650 and Ninja 650, to increase their sales as well. After the Ninja, Vulcan S and Ninja 650 are the most popular models.
