Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled

Kawasaki Ninja 300 has started reporting good sales figures for the Japanese, in India. It competes with the likes of Apache RR310, KTM RC390 and Yamaha R3.

Ninja 300 has garnered quite the attention after its prices were drastically reduced. For the month of May 2019, Kawasaki has sold 174 units of the motorcycle, seeing tremendous Y-o-Y growth of 8600%.

What? Yes, in May 2018, Kawasaki only sold 2 units of the Ninja 300. The more affordable ABS version was launched in August 2018, which suddenly took the sales up, to the delight of the manufacturer.

The sales of Kawasaki Ninja 300 have stayed over 100 units per month on an average. It competes with the likes of Yamaha R3, KTM RC390 and TVS Apache RR310, all of them fully faired motorcycles.

The Apache is the most affordable here, priced at Rs 2.27 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). In comparison with the sales of Kawasaki Ninja 300, which goes for Rs 2.98 Lakhs, it is just one unit ahead.

For the month of May 2019, TVS sold 175 units of Apache RR310. It recently got an upgrade, which gave a new ‘Phantom Black’ colour option and some mild engine upgrades. It also got a new Race-Tuned slipper clutch.

For the month of May 2018, TVS sold 595 units of Apache RR310. A year later, the figures dropped down to 71%. We expect the sales of June 2019 to be slightly better for the Apache RR310.

Apache uses a 313cc liquid-cooled reverse-inclined engine, that delivers 34 BHP at 9700 RPM and 27.3 Nm at 7700 RPM. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Kawasaki Ninja 300 was launched at a price of Rs 3.6 Lakhs (ex-showroom), costlier than the Yamaha R3. To bolster its sales, the manufacturer started assembling it locally, but with imported engine and chassis.

With this, the prices came down to Rs 2.98 Lakhs and also ABS was added as standard. It now gave a stiff competition of R3, BMW G 310 R and the KTM RC390.
