Bajaj Auto has reportedly stopped the production of V15 motorcycle in India, as it failed to make a mark in the recent months. The V12 was discontinued earlier as well.

Bajaj launched the cafe-racer styled commuter, V series in India, back in 2016. It took an instant liking for the buyers because it was a 150cc motorcycle that looked better than what commuter motorcycles look today.

From mid-2018, particularly after the launch of Pulsar 150 Classic/Neon. It was the basic Pulsar that you could get at a price of Rs 64,998 (ex-showroom). The V15 was priced around Rs 500 more than the Pulsar.

So, the primary reason for Bajaj V15 discontinued in India, is that it was generating poor sales. Its near pricing with the Pulsar proved to be its downfall. The leftover stocks of the motorcycle is available at some dealerships.

Bajaj V15 gets a cafe-racer style design with a low-set handlebar, a straight seat and had a low height. The fuel tank of bike was made from the leftover metal scrap of the INS Vikrant.

It came with a 150cc air-cooled engine that produces 14 BHP and 12.7 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Earlier, it produced 2 BHP, but got a power update back in August 2018.

Buyers claimed that the seat of the bike was very uncomfortable and actually was a bit cramped as well. Also, it was not updated with ABS as a part of safety norms, which kicked in from April 2019.

Reports suggest that Bajaj V12 could make a comeback in India and fill the space of a 125cc commuter, where Discover is suffering badly. However, Bajaj has plans to launch a new 125cc Pulsar, which might come till Festive season this year.

If Bajaj manages to keep the prices of V12 well under the Pulsar 125, it could then seem sensible. Also, equipping the V12 is cheaper than the V15, as the former one will get the Combi-Braking System (CBS).
