BMW X7 India Launch

The India Launch of the BMW X7 happened today for a price of Rs. 98.90 lakhs, ex-showroom. Both the diesel and the petrol X7 have been priced similarly.

BMW has launched the all-new X7 flagship SUV in India at a price of Rs. 98.90 lakhs, ex-showroom. This is the first time the X7 has been launched in India and it will sit above the X5 in the company’s lineup as their new flagship SUV. The India launch of the BMW X7 sees it coming with two engines – a petrol and a diesel. Let’s look at the X7 in a little more detail.

Starting off with the styling, the X7 comes across as a huge, stately barge on wheels. There’s nothing beating the sheer size of this BMW X7. The X7 gets a very traditional upright SUV design with smooth flowing lines and curves bringing out the muscles of the SUV. Its just the sheer size that dominates. The face gets slim LED headlamps with BMW laser light technology and yes of course, the rather large BMW kidney grille. It seems too large at first sight but then it grows on you. The bumpers are very well sculpted and come with chrome garnish. At the rear, the LED tail-lights that are connected by a strip of chrome.

Stepping inside, the BMW X7 really feels like the flagship SUV of the company. You are greeted with two 12.3 inches screens – one being the instrument cluster and the other being the infotainment system. The interior layout is also the newest interior design language we have seen in BMW cars and it really looks neat and sophisticated.

The India launch of the BMW X7 sees three row seating with six or seven seat configuration. Features on board include a digital instrument cluster, five-zone climate control, ambient lighting that is also present on the three-piece glass sunroof, park assist (autonomous parking) and a reclining function for all-three rows. The petrol X7 however gets four-zone climate control and does not come with the rear entertainment package. The diesel X7 comes with six seat configuration as standard while the petrol comes with seven seats as standard but could be specced with six seats as well.

The BMW X7 xDrive40i is powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six, turbo-petrol engine that churns out 340hp and 450Nm of torque. The diesel xDrive30d gets a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-diesel engine that produces 265hp and 620Nm of torque. Both engines come paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system with surface-specific modes. Interestingly, both the petrol and diesel variants have been priced similarly at Rs. 98.90 lakhs, ex-showroom.

BMW will also launch the range-topping X7 M50d with 400hp and 760Nm from a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder, quad-turbocharged diesel engine, later in October this year in India. The BMW X7 rivals the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Land Rover Range Rover.
