The new-gen Jeep Wrangler has been launched in India only in the five-door guise and in a sole Sahara trim. It will be powered by a 2.0L, inline-4, turbocharged petrol engine.
Jeep has finally launched the forth generation Wrangler here in India at a price of Rs 63.94 lakh, ex-showroom. In contrary to previous speculations and spy images, Jeep has launched the Wrangler in India in the five-door guise and in the top-spec Sahara trim only, as of yet. A couple of Wranglers in their three-door guise and in the Rubicon trim were spied being tested in India as well but Jeep has not launched those iteration in India yet.
The new Jeep Wrangler is a whole lot different from its previous generation and it has been re-designed from groups up. In terms of styling, the Wrangler is readily identifiable as to what it is. It retains every bit of its character which are only further accentuated by the modern touches like the slightly tweaked seven-slat grille and new LED-equipped round headlamps. Its also very configurable in a number of unique ways in how you can set up the roof, remove the quarter panels, the doors, and tilt down the windscreen frame.
True to being an off-roading icon like it always has been, the Jeep Wrangler gets several off-road biased hardware for the same. It continues with a ladder frame chassis but it is much lighter than before. The Wrangler has also grown in length but comes with improved approach and departure angles, 277mm of ground clearance, electric front- and rear-axle locks, a limited-slip differential and up to 30 inches of water fording ability.

On the inside, the changes are the most comprehensive. It still retains the upright stance on the inside but has been redesigned from scratch and it looks fresh and contemporary. The geometric, retro-themed styling on the inside works really well and its much more feature equipped now including a touchscreen infotainment system and better ergonomics.

As for the engines available here in India, the new Jeep Wrangler will use a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 270hp and 400Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels. The engine has been released in BSIV guise but it will be updated to be BSVI compliant closer to the BS-VI emission norms deadline. It will come to the country via the CBU route.
