Hyundai has confirmed that the BS-6 petrol, as well as diesel versions of Venue, Creta, i20 and all other models, will be rolled out regularly, starting from early 2020.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is the first model from the manufacturer to get a BS-6 compliant petrol engine. Now, Hyundai has confirmed to the PTI that it will start rolling the BS-6 models regularly from early next year.

Hyundai has also confirmed that it would continue the diesel engines in all of its models. It will also continue selling BS-4 models alongside the BS-6 models. The updated engines will hike the prices, so the company will offer the BS-4 models because of lower prices.

Hyundai Venue Petrol Automatic Review

The research and development work of the engines are almost done, as confirmed by the official. Hyundai is one of the few brands who plans to retain all of its models with diesel engines, rather than discontinuing them on smaller ones.

Hyundai is going to replace the 1.6 Litre diesel and the 1.4 Litre diesel unit, with the new 1.5 Litre diesel unit from the new Kia Seltos. So, Elite i20, Creta, Venue and Verna, all will come with the same diesel unit.

The new 1.5 Litre diesel engine produces 115 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque, nearly 8 BHP lesser than the Creta. But the same engine from Venue and Elite i20 will be detuned and the power figures are likely to stay under 100 BHP for fuel-efficiency.

For smaller vehicles like Grand i10 and Xcent, it has the 1.2 Litre diesel unit, which will also be upgraded. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki is phasing out diesel engines from its lineup completely, right from Swift to S-Cross.

However, Maruti already has 7 BS-6 petrol cars in its lineup including Ertiga, WagonR, Swift, Dzire and more. It is going to launch the petrol-powered Brezza and S-Cross earlier next year.

Most of the automakers are going to launch their BS-6 models by early next year, as well. Mahindra is going to discontinue the smaller diesel engine on KUV100. Renault is going to discontinue all the diesel engines post-April 2020.
