2020 Land Rover Defender Set To Unveil On September 10

The new Land Rover Defender is expected to come in various engines and a plug-in hybrid engine too is in the works.

The much-anticipated car from Land Rover lineup is the 2020 Defender and several spy shots of how the rugged SUV looks, have been surfacing on the internet. It will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 10.

The 2020 Land Rover Defender was recently spotted undisguised for the James Bond Movie – No Time To Die. The car sported a glossy black shade and by the looks of it, we expect that the upcoming SUV will pick out proportions from that only.

For starters, the new generation Land Rover Defender continues with its boxy design silhouette and furthermore gets a large bonnet and upright front design. The spy shot also gave us the headlight design details and the LED DRLs placement.

Also, the reports suggest that the new Defender will come in three different lengths, a three-door 90 trim, a five-door 110 trim and lastly a 130 five-door variant. The seating configuration totals to 5-6 people for 90 trim. The 110 trim will be available in options of five, six and seven-seat configuration and the larger 130 trim can accomodate to eight seats.

The interiors too will be modernised and will come with the latest technology onboard. The interiors are expected to carry a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features like ABS with EBD, Hill hold control, hill descent control, Traction control and more will be offered.

The new Defender will use a unibody platform which helps in increasing the efficiency of the car. Engine options for the same will include 2.0-litre to 3.0-litre turbocharged or a diesel engine available in different states of tune option. And the 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol motors will be taken from JLR. There is also news that a plug-in hybrid engine will also join the league.

It will be first launched in the global markets and then brought into India shores. It is likely to be launched by 2021 and the India based price is expected to fall near to Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
