  • Anand Mahindra applauds the efforts and spirit of this woman and is glad that she trusted the Thar enough to undertake such an arduous journey in it.

Anand Mahindra tweeted recently saluting the Indian woman who undertook the journey from India to Qatar in her Thar SUV. We had reported the entire details of this unique and inspiring journey a few weeks ago. This woman, Naaji Mooushi is a mother of 5 and is a die-hard Messi fan. She wanted to see him play and Argentina win the world cup. Spoiler alert, Argentina did win the Fifa World Cup 2022 after beating the reigning champions France on penalties in what is widely regarded as the best world cup final match ever.

Anand Mahindra Salutes the Indian Woman Who Drove to Qatar in Thar

Naaji hails from Kerala and took her Thar on a road trip to Qatar to watch Messi and Argentina play. Little did she know that her dream would come true and how. The 3,000 km-odd journey took her through the Mumbai port, deserts of the Middle East, and Burj Khalifa finally arriving in Qatar. She posted her journey on Instagram which resulted in some followers meeting her on the way to click pictures. Needless to say, she inspired a lot of people, particularly women from all over the world.

Posting the video clip of the glimpses of the entire journey, Anand Mahindra tweeted, “Glad I waited before sharing this video. A car that cheers people with courage & curiosity about the world.” This clearly shows how proud he is of the woman and her trust in the Thar.

Specs

Thar comes with 2 engine options, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. In the current-gen model, the oil burner makes 130 PS/320 Nm of peak figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/320 Nm of max figures. Transmission options for both the powertrains are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with a low-range box. You also get a transfer case and a mechanically locking centre differential. The 5-door version launch is around the corner for people who are looking for a more practical version of the SUV.
