The Defence forces of our nation often work in extreme conditions to safeguard the entire country from all sorts of threats. So, no wonder the machines they use are proven in terms of reliability and ruggedness. Weโ€™ve seen our Officers using everything from the hugely capable Maruti Suzuki Gypsy and Tata Safari GS400 to the rugged Royal Enfield Bullet. However, in a fresh development, it has come to light that officers of Border Road Organization have used the Hero Xpulse 200, an affordable but capable off-roader, to ride at 17,500 ft above sea level in sub-zero temperatures.

The same has been revealed by Hero MotoCorp, the countryโ€™s largest-selling motorcycle manufacturer, through a post on its social media handle. Soldiers of the BRO took the Xpulse 200 to the mighty Himalayas and scaled its heights by travelling on some rough and challenging terrains. Of course, the capable Hero XPulse, which is a thoroughbred entry-level off-roader, handled all of it without breaking a sweat.

It is worth nothing here that the Hero Xpulse 200 received an updated engine earlier this year. With this, the earlier model was re-branded as the Xpulse 200 4V as the new engine features a 4-valve head. Also, with the introduction of the updated model, the motorcycle now comes with an LED headlamp and a better oil-cooling system. Moreover, the new powerplant outputs higher power and torque figures, which come in handy during such tough riding conditions. The motorcycle is currently priced at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom).ย

The motorcycle also comes with a first-in-segment all-digital instrument cluster that can be paired with a smartphone to offer the user call alerts and, more importantly, turn-by-turn navigation assist. Other features of the new instrumentation include a gear indicator, Eco mode notification and dual trip meters. Other features of the updated motorcycle include a USB charger, luggage plate with bungee hooks, protective windscreen and a re-bolstered seat.ย
