BS6 compliant Maruti Alto 800 CNG has been launched. It is offered in two variants with price starting at Rs 4.32 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
Maruti Alto 800 is now the second BS6 model in the lineup to receive the CNG kit. Maruti has focused on the development of CNG cars before it moves to electric vehicles. Soon, other small cars will also get CNG with BS6 compliant engines.
BS6 Maruti Alto CNG is available in two variants – LXI and LXI (O). The LXI variant is priced at Rs 4.32 Lakhs and the LXI (O) goes for 4.36 Lakhs (ex-showroom). CNG variants are demanding almost a Lakh more than the petrol variants.
In the CNG guise, BS6 Maruti Alto 800 produces 40 BHP and 60 Nm of peak torque. While running on its regular 800cc three-cylinder petrol engine, it produces 47 BHP and 69 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed MT comes as standard fitment.
Further, Maruti claims that the Alto 800 CNG offers a mileage of 31.59 kms/kg. With a tank capacity of up to 8 kgs, the Alto can offer a driving range of around 240 kms. To switch between the CNG and petrol, there’s a switch provided near the ignition, which can be done on-the-go.
Recently, Maruti launched the VXI+ variant making it the range-topping variant. The highlight of this variant is that it gets the 17.8cm SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment. The system also supports Voice Recognition, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Safety features of the Alto 800 include rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, front passengers speed belt reminder, immobilizer and Driver Side airbags as standard fitment across all variants. The top-end variants get the passenger airbags as well.
In its CNG lineup, the WagonR and Alto K10 are yet to receive CNG kits with BS6 engine. The Ertiga CNG was launched a couple months back itself. There are reports suggesting that Maruti might also offer other small cars with CNG in the near future.
