VAHAN is designed to streamline the process of finding information about a used vehicle. It offers information about the owner as well. The overall process is quite simple. You can get detailed information about a vehicle by just using the registration number of a vehicle. This includes:

Previously, the government offered vehicle information via text message services. Now, it has been replaced with Parivahan Portal. - Visit the official Parivahan Sewa website – http://parivahan.gov.in

Other than VAHAN or Parivahan portals, you can also find vehicle details directly on a mobile phone by simply sending a single text message. This option works even if you don’t have an internet connection. All you need to do is send a simple text message with the registration number. Here’s how to get the registration details of a vehicle through an SMS:
- On a mobile phone, open the Message application.
- In the message space, type VAHAN Registration Number of the vehicle (Example โ VAHAN WB123ABCxx9).
- In the recipient number space, enter the VAHAN SMS number: 77328-99899.
- Send the message.
- A message will be sent back with a few details including the vehicle name, type, fuel type, registered state, ownerโs name, and the expiry date of the registration certification.
