Hero has reportedly discontinued the entry-level HF Deluxe Eco commuter in India. There might be chances of the other 100cc bikes discontinued as well.
Hero Motocorp has taken one of the most affordable models in its lineup, HF Deluxe Eco off its website. The commuter has likely been discontinued in India and will be available only till stocks last. It was priced at Rs 39,990 (ex-showroom Delhi).
We expected that Hero has discontinued the HF Deluxe Eco mainly because its 100cc engine would not be upgraded to the BS-6 norms. It comes with a 97.2cc OHC engine, that produces 7.8 BHP and 8.05 Nm of torque, mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
Interestingly, this engine is carried over from the time Hero and Honda built motorcycles in a partnership. Basically, this is a Honda engine underneath, but Hero has put some modifications to it.

Hero has also not equipped the HF Deluxe Eco with Combi-braking system (CBS), as a part of mandatory safety norms from April 2019. Reports suggest that the 100cc engine used here might be discontinued post-BS-6 norms.
Last week itself, Hero discontinued the 100cc Passion and also updated the Platina with a bigger 110cc engine. Some 100cc bikes like the regular HF Deluxe have received the mandatory CBS, but a couple of them have also been discontinued.
Recently, Hero also received the BS-6 certification from ICAT for its 110cc engine on the Splendor iSmart. The first BS-6 model from the manufacturer is expected to launch later this year.

Meanwhile, HF Deluxe Eco was the most basic motorcycle from Hero Motocorp, specifically aimed for mileage. Hero claimed that the bike offered a mileage of 88 kmpl, which will anyway attract the mileage-oriented buyers.
The bike came with telescopic forks at the front and twin-sided shock absorbers at the back. For braking, it uses drum brakes at both the ends. Features onboard include electric start, alloy wheels and a single seat.
