Jawa 350 India launch very likely to happen in March next year after an India debut at the fast-approaching Auto Expo 2018
By now it has become a fairly well-known fact that Mahindra plans to re-launch the Jawa brand of motorcycles in India. The new-age Jawa motorcycles will be produced at the company’s facility in Pithampura. Recently, speaking to media, Mr Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra, commented that Jawa will enter the Indian market in March next year. It’s pretty much for sure that the new Jawa 350 will become the first motorcycle that the company plans to launch in India. The new 350cc model is very likely to make its debut at the Auto Expo 2018. Speaking to the media about Mahindra’s two-wheeler business, Mr. Goenka said:
“The two-wheeler business has been demerged into Mahindra & Mahindra and the business continues with the current product range that we have. We have reduced our losses significantly. As far as Peugeot business is concerned as of now we have put on hold any plans to bring those scooter to India because we were not able to meet the price point to those based on the price expectations in India. We will be launching the first product under the Jawa brand before the end of next financial year.”

While Mahindra is yet to make an official announcement regarding the launch of the new Jawa 350cc model, the above statement by Mr Goenka is a very strong hint of the company’s plans of launching this motorcycle in March next year. The bike will make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2018.

While the price of new 2017 Jawa 350 in India will be announced only at the time of its launch, one thing that’s for sure is that the new bike will be positioned close to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Hence, in all probability, the bike will not cost any more than Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering the new 350cc Jawa motorcycle is a single-cylinder 350cc engine that comes from Chinese engine manufacturer Shineray. Basically, this engine is loosely based on an old Honda engine. For the new 2017 Jawa 350cc this engine outputs a max. power of 26 BHP and a peak torque of 32 Nm. The engine comes along with a four-speed manual transmission. However, we’re hoping that Mahindra takes note of this and launches the new 350cc motorcycle here with a five-speed unit. The bike benefits from ABS.
