The details of these images come from autojournal_india on Instagram. As per the information in the post, Maharashtra CM, Shri Eknath Shinde launched these 187 vehicles which are equipped with AI (Artificial Intelligence) to detect traffic violations. There are also tools to monitor the health and condition of the tyres. Note that on the Samruddhi Mahamarg, tyre burst incidents are common. Hence, the AI tools will prevent that. Each vehicle will carry three people – the driver, the traffic inspector and the assistant inspector.

Furthermore, to reduce the accidents on the highways, 2-3 talukas will share an interceptor vehicle. The AI tools will be able to detect violations like driving without seatbelts, riding a two-wheeler without a helmet, overspeeding, drunk driving, breath tests, and wrong lane entry and exit. All of these are the most common offences road users often commit. Having the technology to monitor these violations will ensure high efficiency and the elimination of bribes to get out of the situation.

Author’s Note

We wholeheartedly appreciate the inclusion of technology to better our lives and improve road safety. India loses lakhs of lives each year in road crashes. Most of these take place due to the carelessness of the drivers and people refusing to follow traffic regulations. The fact that an old Indian workhorse like the Mahindra Scorpio Classic has been equipped with modern technological tools represents a perfect picture of how to incorporate modern techniques in established vehicles to make human lives better.
