As we see that the auto sector is slumping down, some of the best performers of the market like Maruti Dzire, Alto and Vitara Brezza are down by over 50% in July sales.
Maruti Suzuki, just like other auto manufacturers are facing a severe slowdown in the market. The largest four-wheeler manufacturer in India which has rarely faced negative growth has seen one for the past 2-3 months.
Maruti has Alto, Vitara Brezza and Dzire amongst the best-sellers in their particular segments. Of course, there are Baleno, Swift and WagonR, but the former three have seen more than 50% decline in the sales.
Maruti Alto recorded a sales figure of 11,577 units in the month of July 2019, down from 23,371 in July 2018. The monthly sales fell down by 38%, from 18,733 units in June 2019.
As for the Dzire, in July 2018, it recorded even better sales than the Alto at 25,647 units, falling down to 12,923 units this year. The monthly sales have decreased from 14,868 units by 13%.
Maruti Vitara Brezza was the best-selling SUV till the month of June 2019, which was soon overtaken by Hyundai Venue. Brezza recorded 5302 sales units in July this year, down from 14181 units last year. It dropped nearly 63% in Y-o-Y sales and 40% in monthly sales.
However, Maruti has seen three of its other popular cars witnessing a positive growth. Maruti WagonR has seen a minor growth of 5%, securing the best-selling car in India position for July 2019.
The sales of Ertiga have increased by nearly 94% when compared to July 2018, at 9222 units in July 2019. The third one is the Ciaz, which has reported a rise of 4894% over the year, from 48 units in 2018 to 2397 units in 2019.
Meanwhile, Maruti is launching two new products in the next month. Later this week, it will be launching the XL6 which is a premium alternative to the regular Ertiga. It is actually based on Ertiga but gets a different styling and some more features.
The second model launching is the Maruti S-Presso, which is likely to be a micro-SUV, rivalling the likes of Renault Kwid Climber as well the Mahindra KUV100. It will be placed in a similar range of Celerio and WagonR.
