Maruti Ertiga has now been launched with the newly developed 1.5 Litre diesel engine. The new prices start from Rs 9.86 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
Maruti Ertiga now gets a more powerful diesel engine onboard. It has been launched with the new in-house developed 1.5 Litre DDiS 225 diesel engine, that recently came on Ciaz.
The new engine delivers 95 BHP at 4000 RPM and 225 Nm of peak torque at 1500-2500 RPM. The engine comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, without an option of an automatic unit.
Here are the updated prices of the Ertiga diesel variants:
- VDi – Rs 9.86 Lakhs
- ZDi – Rs 10.69 Lakhs
- ZDi+ – Rs 11.20 Lakhs
(All prices ex-showroom Delhi).
The new engine uses Dual Mass Flywheel, which helps in reducing the engine fluctuations. Maruti Ertiga now claims to offer a mileage figure of 24.20 kmpl on the diesel variant.
The earlier engine used was the 1.3 Litre DDiS unit. It delivered 89 BHP at 4000 RPM and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 RPM. It comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The other engine on offer is also the newly developed 1.5 Litre K15B petrol unit. It puts out 104 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 5-speed MT and optional 4-speed Auto transmission.
The petrol engine is now available with Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid system. Earlier, it only came on the diesel engines. With the recent decision of discontinuing the diesel engines, Maruti has not introduced the SHVS on the diesel unit.
However, reports confirm that the BS-6 1.5 Litre diesel unit might be launched sometime post-April 2020. The manufacturer is a bit late on the development schedule, which has caused the delay.
Maruti Ertiga is the best selling MUV in India, clocking more than 7000-8000 units every month. Its nearest competitors in pricing are Mahindra Marazzo and Renault Lodgy.
