As a part of the joint venture between Suzuki and Toyota, the badge-engineered models are continuing and the upcoming Invicto will be Maruti’s iteration of the Toyota Innova Hycross.
The launch of the Maruti Invicto is slated for July 5. Invicto will be Maruti’s avatar of the already successful Toyota Innova Hycross. The latter is the newest model in Toyota India’s range which is based on the mega-successful Innova Crysta. However, it boasts a rather butch and SUV-ish appearance compared to the Innova MPV of the past. Now Maruti will get this in the form of Invicto offering its customers another product that they would otherwise might have never experienced. Here is the latest digital illustration of the same.

At the front, one gets to witness a modern-looking SUV that has a huge grille and a chrome bar slapped on it with the Suzuki logo. In addition to that, it is flanked by sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs that offer it a contemporary appearance. The bonnet is upright and there is a prominent fog lamp housing located on the extreme edges of the sporty bumper. Looking closely, one could also see the rugged skid plate underneath the bumper.

The side profile is dominated by huge wheel arches and stylish alloy wheels. There are hints of slight creases on the door panels and the sheer length of this SUV becomes apparent. The real profile also incorporates some modern design elements including a shark fin antenna, roof-mounted spoiler, split LED taillamps that are connected via a chrome slab with a Suzuki logo on it, a sporty bumper with a rugged skid plate and a rear wiper. All in all, one could feel that it will have the road presence of the Toyota Innova Hycross.

What We Think
Maruti is leveraging the success that the Toyota Innova moniker has established in our country for years now. Maruti already captures the affordable 7-seat MPV segment with its Ertiga and there is no rival to it. This is a segment above that and Maruti aims to make its presence felt in this segment too from this Toyota-sourced hybrid MPV. This will allow a wider range of people to accept it, particularly in the non-urban pockets of our country where people buy Maruti cars by default. We shall keep an eye out for how well Maruti Invicto gets received by the public post its launch on July 5.
