Maruti S Cross Old vs New

Maruti’s premium crossover has just received a facelift. The facelift was unveiled last year and features a new nose and other exterior updates. The S-Cross was the first model to go on sale through Nexa dealerships in India. It does not possess the typical SUV appearance the Indian audience craves. Which means sales have been relatively low (by Maruti Suzuki standards). Will the facelift help push sales? We will have to wait and see. Read our Maruti S Cross Old vs New comparison to find out what’s new.

Designers have made major modifications to the nose of the car. The facelift features a new, more butch face complete with a new grille, bumper and new headlamps. While the new front end looks a lot more aggressive, the styling seems busier. We will have to wait and see how the Indian audience reacts to it.

The price increase is not only because of the fresher looks but also because of the new SHVS hybrid. Also, the interior of this crossover now comes with higher quality materials. All this has led to a price hike. We believe that the new S-Cross can easily justify the increase in price through the fresher looks, more equipment, and the SHVS system.

Maruti S Cross Old vs New Model Comparison Verdict

The launch of the 2017 new model Maruti S Cross should add a bit of freshness to the styling of the crossover. The updates should also help the S-Cross stay competitive in a segment that is about to see a lot of activity in the coming year or so.

  • Design – The new model looks more aggressive. There is a new grille along with new front bumpers and new headlamps.
  • Features – The SmartPlay infotainment system offers both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay now. Also, the car gets the SHVS mild-hybrid tech.
  • Specifications – The new S Cross comes with the 1.3-litre engine only. However, it gets the SHVS mild hybrid technology for higher mileage. We are sad at the demise of the excellent 1.6-litre engine.
  • Price – The new S-Cross has a higher price than the older model. However, it is justified through a fresher styling, higher quality of materials for the interior, and the SHVS system.
