Maruti Suzuki’s EV Will Be Sold Through The Nexa Dealerships

Maruti Suzuki’s first EV in India will be based on the WagonR and because these cars will have a premium, it makes much sense to sell them through Nexa.

The Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealerships were introduced for providing a better and a more premium experience to the customers when buying a car. And now, NDTV Auto reports that Maruti Suzuki’s electric range of vehicles or EV will also be sold through the Nexa dealerships.

Maruti Suzuki started the Nexa chain of dealerships about five years ago and they already have more than 250 dealerships across the entire country. They further plan to open 300 service outlets by the end of 2019. Maruti Suzuki will launch their first EV in the country by the end of 2020 and that is why they are really expanding their network of their Nexa dealerships before the EVs join the other cars in the Nexa showrooms.

Maruti Suzuki’s first EV in India will be based on the WagonR. They have been testing the vehicle for long in the country and several spy images of the same have surfaced on the internet several times. Maruti Suzuki has also announced their plans of setting up a battery plant for the production of Lithium-ion batteries from 2020.

Maruti Suzuki has been using the WagonR as the test bed for their new EV and the car would be based on the same as well. This electric vehicle program in India by Maruti Suzuki is being run in cooperation Toyota Motor Corporation, as was the deal in their joint venture. According to the deal, Maruti Suzuki would be using electric technology from Toyota and Toyota will get several Maruti Suzuki cars to rebadge them and sell them as their own cars.

Selling the Maruti Suzuki EVs through the Nexa dealerships makes quite some sense for Maruti as well. These cars will surely sell at a premium, upwards of Rs. 8 lakhs, and for that money, Maruti Suzuki customers sure would be looking for a premium buying experience. The Maruti Suzuki EVs are just round the corner and the Nexa showrooms will sure deliver on the premium buying experience.
