Maruti Suzuki will also offer an AMT gearbox in the top-spec variant of the S-Presso which is quite unusual to keep the prices of the top-spec variants under check.

We had earlier reported that Maruti Suzuki S-Presso micro SUV would be launched in India on September 9, 2019. Now, according to a latest report by Autocar India, we know that the S-Presso will debut with Maruti’s K10 engine which will be BS-VI compliant and it will have the option of both manual and AMT gearboxes. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will be available in four variants – Lxi, Vxi, Vxi AMT, Zxi.

Maruti Suzuki mainly intends to take on the Renault Kwid with this new micro SUV. Also, the S-Presso will be available with the AMT gearbox in the top-spec variant. Now that’s a little unusual for Maruti as they normally do not offer the AMT gearbox on the top-spec variants to keep the prices of the top-end variant in check.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will use a 1.0 liter, three cylinder petrol engine which puts out 68hp and 90Nm of peak torque. It has an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 24.07 kpl in the Alto K10 in its BS-IV form. It will also be subsequently rolled out on other Maruti Suzuki cars like the Celerio and the WagonR.

As for the styling of the S-Presso, it will be look quite different from all other Maruti cars you are used to seeing. It will feature an SUV-ish design with an upright nose and a squared-out stance. The design is based on Future S Concept that was debuted by Maruti Suzuki at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will also have other SUV styling elements like chunky bumpers and some decent amount of body cladding as well.

The S-Presso will also be featuring a central-mounted digital speedometer, a first for any Maruti Suzuki car. Maruti Suzuki will continue selling the Alto K10 alongside the S-Presso, the latter being priced a little higher. We are expecting the Maruti Suzuki S-Presse to be priced between Rs 3.3-4.7 lakh (ex-showroom).ย
