Senior management of Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the they are going to launch two all-new vehicles in India during the 2018-19 fiscal.
Country’s largest automobile manufacturer by sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to launch two all-new models in India during the fiscal year of 2018-19. Senior management of the company has confirmed the same to PTI in a statement. The Indo-Japanese automaker launched two all-new vehicles during the ongoing fiscal year too. These were the third generation iteration of the WagonR hatchback and the second generation iteration of the Ertiga MPV. The above-mentioned launches were followed by the debut of a mid-life update for the Ciaz C-segment sedan and the Baleno premium hatchback.
Out of the two all-new product launches is likely to be the Concept Future S based micro-SUV, which so far is being speculated to be named as the ‘Zen’. Just like the current breed of cars by Maruti. this too is going to be based on its lightweight HEARTECT platform. With this, the automaker plans to cash in a bit more on the current craze for SUV inspired body styles. This new Micro-SUV will find its place below the Vitara Brezza and is likely to retail through its Arena dealerships.
Engine specifications of the Maruti Suzuki Zen are still under the wraps. However, we expect it to use the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which currently does its duty on the almost all of Maruti’s hatchback line-up. Whether or not this Micro-SUV is going to get a diesel derivative, remains to be seen. Transmission alternatives will include a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, there is going to be a 5-speed AMT unit as well.
The second product from Maruti Suzuki after the launch of this Micro-SUV is most likely to be the next-generation iteration of the Alto hatchback. The automaker has been working on completely upgrading its entire product portfolio and the next product in the line, according to this could be the Alto. However, there were certain reports which state that there is a complete generation update for the Celerio in the pipeline as well.
