MG Hector Bookings Open But See An Increase In Price

MG Hector competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta and recently launched Kia Seltos.

MG Motors made its debut with the Hector and the mid-size SUV saw an overwhelming response with 28,000 bookings. The company temporarily closed the bookings but now they have started accepting new bookings. However, the price of MG Hector is now increased by Rs 40,000 for some trims.

MG Hector was launched at a price tag of Rs 12.18 lakh and knowing it was an introductory offer from the British manufacturer the prices were meant to increase. Now without any further ado, let us show you the new prices for the mid-size SUV.

The new prices are made effective from Sept 25, 2019, to anyone who is making a new booking for their car. And as of now the price hike for the SUV range from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 to all the models. But the Hector will soon observe another price change when the new emission norms come in April 2020.

MG Hector is available in three engine options – Petrol, Petrol Hybrid and Diesel Engine. The latter is a turbocharged unit which churns out 170 bhp. The FCA sourced unit can also be seen in its competitors, Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. The peak torque produced is 350 Nm and the engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor generates 143 bhp with a healthy torque of 250 Nm. In this spec, it offers a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed DCT. The 48V hybrid turbocharged petrol motor produces 143 bhp and 250 Nm but offers a 12% more fuel economy than the regular petrol trim which stands at 15.81 kmpl.

In other news, the 6-seater version of MG Hector has been spotted on Indian roads. The exterior styling is a tad different than the 5-seater and the length is also increased. This is because to accomodate the third row seats and middle bench row has been replaced with captain seats.

MG Motors second product eZS, the electric SUV is also expected to launch in early 2020. The SUV is said to have a range of 250 km and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Kona.
