The compact sedan segment is heating up as we recently witnessed the launch of the new-gen Maruti Dzire
The new-generation Honda Amaze has been fully leaked without a sunroof while arriving at the dealerships. Honda currently sells 3 cars in India – Amaze, City and Elevate. While the City is relatively fresh and the Elevate is a brand-new SUV, the Amaze was due for a facelift for a long time. Finally, the Japanese car marque decided to bring an updated iteration of the Amaze to keep the customers excited. In the last few weeks, we have been getting spy images of the new Amaze. But in this case, we encountered a complete glimpse of the sedan without a camouflage.
New-Generation Honda Amaze Won’t Get Sunroof
Courtesy of this video, we were able to get a clear view of the exterior and interior of the Amaze. At the front, I get glimpses of the Elevate mid-size SUV by looking at the sleek LED headlamp cluster along with that chrome slab which connects the headlights on either side. In fact, there are also integrated LED DLRs which form the eyebrows of the lights. Down below, we see a dedicated fog lamp housing while the large grille at the centre defines the fascia. On the side, the new Amaze gets stylish alloy wheels and black B-pillars. At the rear, we are able to recognize the resemblance with the City. All in all, there are enough elements to distinguish it from the existing Amaze.
On the inside, we got an opportunity to peek through via this video clip. There is a specific design pattern on the textured dashboard which neatly integrates AC vents. At the centre, the new Amaze boasts a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment display. Apart from that, there is a chunky steering wheel with multimedia controls. Finally, we will see rear AC vents and ADAS (possibly Level 1) on the sedan. The latter will be a segment-first feature and enhance the active safety prowess of the car.
Specs
Even though Honda has not announced anything officially, there is no reason to think that the new Amaze won’t carry forward the powertrain from the current-gen model. This translates to a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill which is good for a healthy 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak power and torque. Performing transmission duties will either be a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. At the moment, the prices range from Rs 7.29 lakh to Rs 10.05 lakh, ex-showroom. The new-gen avatar will certainly boast at least a slight premium over these.
